The Air Cadet Organization is thriving! Each year over 60,000 cadets, volunteer staff and civilian committee members’
help engage in pursuits and rewarding opportunities such as championing good causes in the local communities, pursuing sporting
events at a national level and even becoming international youth ambassadors.
Air Cadets aged 13 to 18 are given the chance by our team of staff and adult volunteers to learn to fly aerobatics, learn
skills to lead expeditions, tour foreign countries, become target shooting marksman, join a band, learn about aviation and
aerospace - only a small list of the many activities and opportunities for an enviable social life with many new friends.
To provide and channel this energy to thrive is where working with a youth agenda and challenging activities really has
to hit a personal chord. The ACO is continually searching for likeminded high calibre adult volunteers to keep us at the top
of our game, as one of the top youth organizations in the United Kingdom.
In my personal involvement in the ACO for the last 16 years it never ceases to amaze me the dedication, enthusiasm and
commitment shown by our volunteers that support the backbone and heart of our forward thinking organization - proudly leading
the way for cadets to meet the challenge as the ‘Next Generation’.
Looking to the future my aspiration is to provide every cadet the opportunity for flight in both a glider and tutor aircraft,
experience one of our adventurous activities, achieve a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and earn a BTEC diploma in an aviation
related subject - ensuring that the ethos and fun the ACO provides is set to engage and broaden their horizons.
As you examine our website and discover what a cadet or adult volunteer can do, ask yourself: can you rise to the challenge
and go above and beyond?
